Exploring emerging skills at the FGB Knowledge Apéro

This networking event titled “What is an emerging skill and is it in short supply?”, organised by Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini and SkillsPULSE, in collaboration with other three Horizon projects – SKILLAB, SkiLMeeT, and TRAILS -, took place in Brussels on December 4, 2024.

In this occasion the event was devoted to the newly launched book “Re-Thinking Europe’s Skill Needs: Reflections Following the European Year of Skills” edited by Liga Baltina, Head of FGB’s Labour Market & Skills Research Unit, and coordinator of the SkillsPULSE project, and Terence Hogarth, Professor at the Institute for Employment Research, University of Warwick, partner of the SkillsPULSE consortium, who gave a short insight into the book.

The discussion explored how emerging skills are identified, their role in the evolving labour market, and the extent to which they are in short supply, with Georgios Panos (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), Annachiara Tanzarella (European Commission), Rosaria Rossini (Eclipse Foundation Europe GmbH), and Vassil Kirov (Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences).
