The European Union launches a project to address skill shortages and skill gaps
Skill shortages and skills gaps are a particular kind of skills mismatch and limit the ability of organizations to develop and, in doing so, act as a constraint on productivity and economic growth.
The aim of the SkillsPULSE project is to provide a means of identifying, predicting and locating (with reference to member states, jobs, and sectors) current and emerging skill shortages and gaps in Europe.
The objective of this project is to address these gaps in understanding the current situation, using the most up to date approaches to skill intelligence, and to develop a suite of tools that can be readily applied across member states.
Methodologies adopted will include the use of administrative data, big data, quantitative and qualitative assessments, and the testing and validation of any new skills foresight tools developed during the course of the project.
